Program Notes

Elegy was written in memory of Allan Schindler, my colleague at the Eastman School of Music since 1980. Allan was the director of the Eastman Computer Music Center until he retired in 2015. He was an eminent and master composer of electronic and concert works and beloved teacher of his many composition students.

His death came suddenly and unexpectantly on October 9, 2018. A Memorial Concert was presented in Hatch Hall at the Eastman School on November 7, 2018. Matthew Barber planned the concert in conjunction with Allan’s family and it included many composition by Allan, and Allan’s colleagues and students. Zuzanna Kwon played my piece on that concert.
